All confidential patient data is protected at two distinct levels - hashed passwords and encrypted PII fields.
- SHA-256 + SALT for all user passwords - hashed before storage, never stored as plain text
- AES-256 encryption for PII fields: phone numbers, addresses, and contact details
- Encryption keys stored separately from the database in environment-level secrets
- All data in transit secured over TLS - no unencrypted API endpoints exposed
